Student societies
Our UNSW Engineering student societies enrich your university experience by enabling personal development, providing programs to support you. They’re also a great way to grow your network, develop your career prospects and, of course, make friends and have fun.
CEVSOC
If you’re one of the 1500 or so undergraduate students who call the Civil and Environmental Building home, you’re automatically a member of CEVSOC – the largest UNSW School of Engineering student society at UNSW.
We run a spread of events throughout the year, aimed at giving you the most fulfilling university experience possible. Our events tend to run at lunchtime and in the evening or on important dates during semester such as Oktoberfest. These include:
- industry-sponsored barbecues and pizza nights, featuring reps from leading companies so you can discuss holiday, cadet and graduate opportunities
- annual staff v students sporting match, the perfect way to settle any academic grudges
- a spectacular harbour cruise, where creatively costumed students take to the high seas
- first and third year weekend camps – student interaction, development and fun
- online professional development workshops
- thesis and 4th year elective information sessions
- industry and diversity evenings
- the legendary Fourth Year Dinner, celebrating the achievements of our fellow students alongside Industry partners.
Contact us on Facebook, by email or drop by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Building (G4) for a chat.
SURVSOC
The Surveying Society (SURVSOC) is an undergraduate student society specifically for students enrolled in our surveying programs. We aim to enrich your university experience with social events where you can meet and share experiences with other surveyors. These include:
- barbecues and pizza nights
- opportunities to meet with industry reps to discuss future career paths
- pathways to professional registration sessions.
These events provide students and staff the chance to get to know each other outside the classroom, sharing experiences and ideas over a meal.
To keep informed of the events we’re running, please sign up to our Facebook page. If you’d like to be involved or have any questions, you can contact us by email.
CERSA
The Civil and Environmental Engineering Research Students Association (CERSA) represents the interests of postgraduate research students. Our aims are to create a unified body to develop friendship among ourselves, collectively represent our interests and build mutually beneficial relations with the school.
