About the seminar

The retina, being an extension to the brain, is particularly relevant as a window to explore dementia, because of the retinal-brain embryological and anatomical connections.

In this seminar, Dr Xu will talk about epidemiological evidence on the relationship between eye and cognition, including two systematic reviews resulting from a UNSW Ageing Futures Institute funded project. The first is about frequency of coexistent eye diseases and cognitive impairment or dementia, and the second is about impaired contrast sensitivity, colour vision, visual field, and motion perception in people with mild cognitive impairment or dementia.
