Dr Kean Lee Kang
Kean Lee received his PhD in computational fluid dynamics from the National University of Singapore, after an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His doctorate focused on adapting machine learning methods to study complex dynamical or chaotic systems. After working at the multinational aerospace company Airbus at their offices in Bristol, England, he made a career pivot to become a lecturer in data science at Abertay University in Scotland. Here, he was involved in research on artificial intelligence solutions for health and social care of persons affected by cancer. He also contributed to the development and teaching of a new Masters in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) and User Experience (UX) programme, while leading the Introduction to Data Science and Applied Mathematics modules. At UNSW Sydney’s Centre for Big Data Research in Health, he coordinates data management and curation and performs machine learning or statistical analysis for several research projects using large-scale linked health data and Electronic Medical Record data.
