WOMEN'S CRICKET

The rain came at quite a welcome time for Universities first grade team on Sunday - they won the toss and elected to bat, but things weren't going their way when rain forced the match to be abandoned. Their top three were all dismissed for only three runs each and Jade Allen was run out for 18 just when she was beginning to build a good total and partnership with Samantha Robinson (11). They'll be looking for a strong performance against St George-Sutherland next weekend.

MEN'S CRICKET

After being set a huge total of 375 to chase, UNSW set about trying to hold on to their wickets and bat out the day. Suffan Hassan was the very picture of patience, finishing with 26 not out from an astonishing 108 balls. He was ably assisted by Adrian Isherwood (29 from 58) and together they managed to hold on until rain forced the match to be abandoned and declared at draw just after 4pm.

GRIDIRON

Unfortunately our UNSW Raiders men had a loss in their second game of the season, going down to a strong Northern Sydney Rebels team in a close match. They'll be looking to bounce back against Nepean next weekend. Our women's team had a well-deserved bye this weekend after two massive wins in their first two games and will play the Northern Sydney Rebels next weekend in a top of the table clash.
