Zoe Lo

Research Assistant
Honours Class I, 2023, USYD

Zoe graduated with a First Class Honours from The University of Sydney in 2023. Since then, she has been working as a research assistant at UNSW exploring the metabolic cross-talk between pancreatic cancer cells and cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs). In her Honours year, Zoe established a 3D in-vitro cross-talk model between pancreatic cancer cells and CAFs and later screened a library of 80 metabolism-altering compounds on them. Her work as a research assistant is a continuation of this project, where she aims to further elucidate how vulnerabilities in metabolic cross-talk can be therapeutically exploited to improve response to chemotherapy. Her areas of interest surround the metabolic landscape of pancreatic cancer cells as well as CAF heterogeneity and how it influences the tumour microenvironment.

Research focus

Metabolic crosstalk between pancreatic cancer cells and cancer associated fibroblasts.
