UNSW Law & Justice is a top-ranking faculty and a global leader in law and criminology education and research, setting the pace in Australia for 50 years.
We ranked 12th globally for law and legal studies in the 2024 QS World University Rankings and 1st in Australia in the Employer Reputation category by subject. UNSW climbed in the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, placing 20th worldwide for law. In the most recent round of research excellence rankings, UNSW received an ERA rating of 5 for law, the highest possible score.

Teaching & research excellence
Our outstanding teaching, research and student support attracts the most talented academics, researchers and students from Australia and internationally.
At UNSW Law & Justice, we focus on student-centred and research-based teaching. Our graduates have flexible skills, critical perspectives and broad horizons to help them thrive in an ever-changing world. Our research is interdisciplinary, collaborative and leads to real change in public policy development, the justice system and the law.
Our comprehensive and innovative range of degrees includes traditional areas of law as well as new and emerging fields. In 2021 we added criminology to our programs. We work hard to ensure that students can tailor their education and emerge 'career ready' with practical skills for the contemporary workplace.
We offer education for all career stages: undergraduate law double degrees, undergraduate criminology streams, Juris Doctor for graduates, postgraduate coursework, postgraduate research and continuing legal education short courses.

Accreditation
We offer three professional practice programs: Juris Doctor (JD) for graduates, Bachelor of Laws (LLB) for undergraduates, and Practical Legal Training – Graduate Diploma in Legal Professional Practice (GDLPP). The degrees are accredited by the Legal Profession Admission Board (LPAB) and satisfy the academic component for admission to practice as a solicitor and barrister of the Supreme Court of NSW.
