Thrive in one of the largest women in engineering communities in Australia
UNSW recognises the importance of diversity and inclusivity, and is proud to have one of the largest Women in Engineering communities in Australia. The Women in Engineering program provides a valuable support network to inspire, engage and empower the next generation of women, non-binary and gender diverse engineers. With bespoke mentoring, development and industry opportunities, we aim to ensure you emerge from UNSW as a highly sought-after graduate in the field of your choice. UNSW’s Women in Engineering LinkedIn Group connects current students, recent graduates and alumni.
Programs and events
The UNSW Women in Engineering programs and events have been designed to build a strong community of women, non-binary and gender diverse engineering students. It is an amazing environment where you will meet life-long friends and make so many valuable connections!
WIESoc Industry Mentoring Program
The Women in Engineering Student Society (WIESoc) runs a highly sought-after Industry Mentoring Program, providing students with the opportunity to connect directly with industry representatives through one-on-one mentorship. The program officially runs from April to October where industry mentors interact with mentees to provide students with deeper insights into their respective companies and professional environments.
The Industry Mentoring Program is Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS) approved. In order to receive the AHEGS accreditation, mentees must attend at least five monthly meetings with their mentor (5 hours), attend all relevant workshops, ceremonies and checkpoint events (12 hours) and complete reflections after each event (3 hours).
For further information on WIESoc's Industry Mentoring Program, please contact the WIESoc team.
Student societies
There are several student groups at UNSW affiliated with the Women in Engineering and Women in STEM communities. Student societies are a great way to get involved in student life at UNSW and meet new friends who share similar interests.
