Our research community is supported to deliver research with purpose and impact through a range of state-of-the-art research facilities. These include our innovative laboratory for conducting controlled experiments and simulations in business and economics, the UNSW Business School Experimental Research Laboratory (BizLab), subscriptions to a wide range of databases and access to one of Australia’s major research libraries, UNSW Library.
BizLab
BizLab is a cross-disciplinary laboratory that hosts a range of human subject experiments exploring decision making in business and economics.
The laboratory is a research-only facility that contains 48 fixed touchscreen workstations, a 20 person negotiation table with a corresponding number of laptops and movable dividers, and a private observation area. The lab also has instruments available for bio-physiological measurement. These instruments include: eye trackers that record eye movements several hundreds of times per second, EEG equipment that allows for contemporaneous skin-conductance measurement, EKG, and EEG monitoring. In addition, we have access to technology for research on virtual and augmented reality.
UNSW Library
UNSW Library is a key resource supporting research activity at UNSW Business School. As one of Australia’s major research libraries, it offers extensive scholarly information resources, information technology and personalised services to help staff achieve their research goals. These include research consultations and appointments with Outreach Librarians.
UNSW Library also houses the Business Subject Guide, an easy to navigate list of the key business resources available from the library, sorted by specialisation area.
Support for staff researchers
UNSW Business School researchers are supported to undertake cutting-edge academic research through a range of internal resources.
-
The faculty provides direct funding to individuals to support their research, as well as to schools to strategically support high quality research. In addition, the faculty operates a co-funding model to support two platforms: Knowledge Hubs and Research Labs. Knowledge Hubs bring research groups together with external partners to solve important industry problems through unique UNSW knowledge and research. Smaller groups of researchers investigating emerging themes also have the opportunity to receive funding via the Research Lab structure, a co-investment model recognising partnerships and themes that have the potential to develop into a more formal research structure.
-
The UNSW Business School subscribes to a variety of financial datasets commonly used by many of the world's top researchers. These subscriptions provide staff with the necessary infrastructure to produce world class research in the financial, accounting, economic and business disciplines.
-
In addition, to support available from UNSW's Research Strategy and Partnerships Office and Research Grants and Contracts, the Business School provides assistance to staff applying for external funding. Independent external experts are engaged to assist researchers at the Business School interested in applying for ARC Grants.
Our Business School Research Development Manager is available to assist with formulating, reviewing and providing strategic advice for all competitive research funding proposals, facilitating engagement with other UNSW researchers and external organisations and coordinating major research funding proposals across multiple faculties and teams of researchers.
Similarly, our Business School Business Development Manager is available to facilitate partnerships and collaborations with industry, government and the community, and support you in securing R&D related projects, contract negotiation and partner management.
